The whole concept of this project right from the beginning was to listen to feedback from our loyal family of followers and so far the response we've had from you guys has been phenomenal! We appreciate that some of you have concerns with regards to price versus quantity but we want to reassure you that all this has been taken into careful consideration.
We've discussed projected orders with our global network of dealers and distributors and based on past experience with Signature lines, including the first Slash Series, we predict the total of 2300 units will more than satisfy demand. This figure would even comfortably cover an order from every single person currently registered to the AFD100 website! This however does not mean that because there are limited numbers the retail price will be high to compensate. We are unable to give a definitive figure but can clarify the retail price of the AFD100 will be competitive with other Marshall 100 Watt all valve amplifiers. By maintaining the price on the same level as a standard head this should be available to all you fans who have the intention to purchase a 100 Watt head. Slash has played a major part in this project with regards to decisions on features and cosmetics, but when it comes to quantity and price he has stepped aside and allowed us to come to an educated conclusion of which he is fully in agreement with.
We appreciate a 100 Watt head won't necessarily be suitable for everyone, therefore we are not eliminating the possibility of expanding the range in the future, ensuring there is an AFD tone out there for everybody.

Posted 1 month ago by sprakey on the last blog there was a sugestion that you could offer first choice of the limited run to the fans that are registered on this site, I think that is a great idea. is that possible?

Posted 1 month ago by jignow I agree. It would be fantastic to have pre-order capability so as to ensure those who want it would get first shot. Price is of course always a concern, but for me personally I'm more worried about availability. I'd order and pay for one of the 100 limited today if given the chance!

Posted 1 month ago by hardblues Thanks! This post is reassuring! I was really unfortunate cause I asked 4 a Gibson AFD in my country, in a representative store, be4 it was 4 sale, and they "couldn't sell me 1 (why I don't know). It would be a drag if I couldn't get the AFD100 2. Suggestion: why don't you reissue the 1st marshall slash? Had a killer sound. The only amp where anyone could play ain't life grand with THAT groove!

Posted 1 month ago by Xenious I second the idea of a special way for registered blog members to pre-order. I've got my eye on one of the limited 100 depending on cost. Plus it would be just a fitting tribute to give us a way to secure an order.

Posted 1 month ago by csteinsv What happend to the adjustable power from one to hundred watts that Slash and Santiago talked about? I REALLY whan one of these but for my use 100W is to much.

Posted 1 month ago by RyanK I think that it is a great idea for registered members to be able to pre-order the AFD! If this happens, please allow customers in Canada to do this.

Posted 1 month ago by Marker Thanks for the clarification; only Marshall knows the market quantity demands for these kind of amps and if they say 2300 is enough for "everyone" who really wants it to buy it then we must believe it. Also the price tag aligned with the other 100 Watt heads is a very good news. All we need to know now is the release date. Rock on! :)

Posted 1 month ago by RicMoura Yeh, I agree. I'd go for the special edition and you guys at Marshall should do something so we who are registed in this blog could be able to preorder it. Just to ensure that we can get one. I'm worried about avaiability.
Cheers

Posted 1 month ago by firegate666 Yeah. I am interested in the release date as well plus I want to preorder one ;) I already asked two Marshall Dealers at my location but they have no details at hand
0 Report
Posted 1 month ago by transformerryan I'm super-excited about this amp, I'll do whatever I can to get one when they're released. I don't see blog preorders happening, as they'll only sell through authorized dealers and unless a dealer agreed to cover blog preorders, it wouldn't work. I hope 2300 will truly be enough to satisfy the masses, it's hard for me to imagine. I just hope I get my hands on one!!

Posted 1 month ago by johnnybgood I agree with everybody, let's hope there's going to be enough for everybody.
Wouldn't be fair. I hope the heads will be available throughout the world. I'm in a Canada and won't want to have to cross over to the states to get one. Well, maybe I'm just running scared, sure they'll be availlable in Quebec.

Posted 1 month ago by johnnybgood About the head, I think it's going to be pretty amazing from the looks of the panel and from hearing Slash playing it on stage. The only thing I think it wil be missing, is somekind of footswitchable channel, to change from lead to rythm or just two have two different sounds. I mean, come on, it's so technically easy to do, why not do it.... see next comment for the end of this one
0 Report
Posted 1 month ago by johnnybgood ...instead, you have to buy 2 heads, stack em up, then either plug 2 cabs, or spit a marshall cab in 2 using the stereo plugs in the back, then switch between the heads with a AB switch, kind of complicated... or just put two inputs in the front, with two presets, like the amps in the olds days, so we can switch between them using AB.

Posted 1 month ago by k9taxi When I read that last blog entry about producing 2300 units I was really ticked off. After reading this post and thinking about it, it makes sense that Marshall did their homework and they probably have a fairly good idea as to what demand will be.

Posted 1 month ago by Rocker22 I think a footswitchable channel is a really good idea. I think marshall should really consider that.

Posted 1 month ago by v3rock Ok Marshall. This sounds good. I own 2 JCM SLash heads and look foward to buying 2 AFD heads. It's amazing at some of the stupid comments and questions that you have had to deal with on this site, however we are looking foward to this release. I have been hoping for something new from you in this caliber for a while now! Keep us posted on any new news please. The Fall of Heaven

Posted 1 month ago by murky69nz Preorder 1 here also! I think you guys are on the right track keeping the design simple. If I could however suggest making the effects loop and 34/AFD switch footswitchable, it would add a ton of flexibility for those that want it. Otherwise, nice work!

Posted 1 month ago by brotor This is all amazing, like it has been from the very beginning of this website! A pre-order option here on afd100.com would be a cool thing to do, so that all of us who have followed this thing from the very beginning can asure ourselves a copy of this most likely fantastic amp! :)
Cheers ;)

Posted 1 month ago by StuartC A pre-order option would be great, but I'd only buy it if it sounded better than my current rig. I would need to try this amp out properly- at gig volume, and back to back with my Jubilee's. I don't know any dealer near me that would be able to accommodate that though. Can I come to the factory and test it ?!...please.
Keep up the good work.

Posted 1 month ago by JHall55 @santiago Is there a way to get an "official" spec sheet or something. I'm a little confused about what features this amp actually has now. The toggle switch for the mods? a 100w/50w selector switch? How many channels? Inputs?
Thanks for all your hard work.

Posted 1 month ago by vidoz It can be pre-ordered in England only, at the moment. It costs about 1300£. There are several online stores through you can pre-order them: just google "afd100 preorder". They have a very limited quantity available: 2/3 each store. Just what we feared for!
Marshall decided to produce 2300 units just because Appetite for Destruction was released 23 years ago (100 units each year).
0 Report
Posted 1 month ago by vidoz They won't give us a pre-order option, because they have to assign all the amps to there dealers around the world, so they can not sell them directly to us members of this blog.
Good luck to everyone. Have a good hunt!

Posted 1 month ago by JHall55 How to pre-order in 3 easy steps.
Step 1: Go to music store. 2. Give them money. 3. Wait until it comes out.
I am in Canada, maybe it's different. ;)
They told me the cost was $1750

Posted 1 month ago by vidoz Not necessarily: you can pre-order by phone, if you prefer; at least there, in England.
Here, in Italy, pre-orders are not available yet.

Posted 1 month ago by jaydeeandcoke What's the difference between the 2300 batch and the 100 batch?
0 Report
Posted 1 month ago by transformerryan @jaydeeandcoke Santiago had said that they weren't doing an AFD cab, Slash's preference is 1960AV/BV because of the celestion vintage 30's. Also I believe there's no difference in the amp features between regular production and limited, the limited will probably just come with more "schwag".

Posted 1 month ago by transformerryan I'm not sure about that, I'm in Canada and I just went to my nearest Marshall dealer and asked about it, they had it listed in their computer system, so I was able to put deposit on it and they'll get one in for me. They didn't know if it was regular or limited, I'm assuming it's the regular version. I expect the limited will become available closer to release...

Posted 1 month ago by goldtopLP When considering the limited number, did anyone at Marshall take into considerstion that they are not only selling a Slash sig., but an "AFD Signiture Tone Amp", arguably the most hollowed rock tone, that everyone has attempted to recreate?
0 Report
Posted 1 month ago by rodakamalfl I personally feel you can't give people registered at this site an exclusive right to getting this amp before anyone else, if you want this amp that bad then as soon is it's released to the public you will buy one or order one. If I have the money I will buy it, and use it live, have been playing Marshall amps live for 27 years.

Posted 1 month ago by zofozofo The 100watt is cool for collectors but in reality a lower watt amp is more user friendly. Most guitar players are not superstars that require a 100 watt amp. This could account for low number of 2000 and something that your market research shows.( Bed room level and club level) version could make it one of the best selling amps in Marshall histroy .
0 Report
Posted 1 month ago by zofozofo I should be on your marketing team. The average guitar player plays alot at home. If he is good enough does gigs . Making a version that fits this profile would sell alot
