I have no idea how many they have available for sale.

I currently dont have one and I dont think there is a special one matched to the AFD100, is there? Thanks

Posted 1 year ago by brickford @SlashGNR ... so... do tell? .. does this amp have a nice roll down clean? does this amp give a good feel repsonse , does it overly scream.. is it quiet when idle . does it give a good AFD and #34 on the same settings or do you need to adjust etc,, is the amp versatile or totally slash..does the power scaling really deliver the cranked tones.. the's a hundred questions really lol
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by brickford @slashGNR ... what setting got you closest to slash tones and do you have a number of settings per song etc or is it genrally a one setting pony amp? does the effect loop add noise, take less feel alter the tone in any way? , does it sound better on one ohmn setting or the same on all? does the tube biasing work quickly etc

Posted 1 year ago by Matt_J After all this waiting it's going to be the best he ever heard. It's just human nature. That and everybody that spends money always swear by it to death. None of us will know how good it is 'til the honeymoon is over.
That said i also wanna know all that stuff!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by brickford @slashGNR .. have you tried your reverb in the loop .. did it sit well or did the power tube distort the reverb a little? is there any volume decreases with you turn the loop on?
is it versatile to use this with out sounding to slashy ? does the bass stay tight when raised alittle or start to flubber when increased etc is the treble at risk of being ice picky? or is it smoothed out top end wise

Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR @Brickford - to be honest i've literally been hammering Sweet Child O' Mine through it continuously!! Along with a couple of Nightrains, Welcome to the Jungles and Paradise Cities . . . The best sound I get out of it is everything set at 6 . . .
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR Sounds very very Slashy ;) . . . It has his sweet top end with the in your face bite/crispiness that other Marshalls do not. Totally different to the 2555sl! To be honest I'm not sure I like the sound of the dirty channel on the 2555sl . . .
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR I get a better Slash tone by putting my zoom multi effects pedal through the clean channel . . . which is a really kick ass clean channel!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR I think the dirty channel sounds dry and unfinished. Perhaps it just needs a touch of reverb.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by brickford @SlashGNR ... are you referring to the cleans and dirty on the 2555sl ? keep it AFD thats all i wanna know lol... is that it? you had the amp a whole day and thats it? come on man details, details details lol jeez
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by brickford @petersheer .. yeah GAK lost a future customer as i won't be going through them again..they said they get the first run?.. but so far nothing... they said they'd call up Marshall on Monday to find out when they get any in which does not reaasure me much!
Hopefully Monday they get 'em so i get it Tuesday?!

Yet theres a dealer in Newcastle who has them on the shop floor ready to go with no deposits! Mon - Tue will be the day....
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by dansage yea come on slashGNR, i hope your referring to the "unfinished" channel on the 2555sl and not the AFD??
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR @dansage - yes of course I am! . . . the afd100 is totally finished! The dirty on the 2555sl sounds really dry like a sore throat to me, whereas the afd (both in afd and #34 modes) sounds more like a natural husky voice that's meant to be! It's just perfect it really is. Can't wait to gig through it in Feb next year!

0
Posted 1 year ago by brickford @dansage ... yeah they made out like these were going to be sold out and that you would be pressed to find one in a store for you to demo before buying...i now regret paying a deposit as i would have driven 3 hours to Newcastle just to test it out and see if it really was worth purchasing.
@slashGNR you seem awfully quiet about your amp considering the questions i asked? lol

Posted 1 year ago by Matt_J @brickford. 25watt greenbacks is what i have. BTW, I chose my dealer from a map of the UK haha. Closest one i could find that did shipping overseas. They seem small enough to care about me, and we'll see if they deliver. 0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR @dismalswamp - I'd love to know what you think is full of shit? Please explain . . . I can't see how I am full of shit? I am young, inexperienced, the 2555sl was my first tube amp hooked up with the 1960av . . . I have now got the afd100 which I am thrilled to bits with and I have yet to continue experimenting and tweaking it about to see what it can do . . .
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR @brickford - The auto biasing doesn't seem to take long at all. Just a few seconds really. I always leave it for probably longer than it needs though to make sure. I turned up the bass and it still delivers that break through sound however around the lower notes (especially when i put my Les Paul to rhythm mode with the toggle) it does have a slight muffled sound as all amps do
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR I've managed to get a deacent ac/dc/airbourne sound out of it by having low bass, high mid and high treble! Got a great sound for too much, too young, too fast and you shook me all night long! :D

1. Get the album "Rocks" by Aerosmith. Take all the songs to pieces and put them back together on your guitar. Find your own style this way.

0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MHyypia Got mine today. It really rocks and the power scaling is brilliant. Really well done Marshall!
Planetstar, the Slash settings are pretty much everything at 6 (5-7) and power scaling where you want it. It does say that if playing at very low power, then up the gain a bit.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by dansage mhyypia - is the power scaling as effective as it sounds?
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SixxstringKing @Matt_J Aerosmith Rocks is by FAR their best album! I know everyone thinks it's Toy's but I'd disagree. I love Perry's tone on that one and would agree! Pull those songs apart and learn the riffs from there as well, I did that back in the early 80's as I'm sure Slash had done!
Just keep reading/listening and you'll never stop learning!! ; )

Posted 1 year ago by Matt_J Yeah it's a great album, and pretty much a manual for cool licks a manual for the tone controls on a les paul. If you wanna play rock that is. I read Slash's book and wasn't surprised to read in it that he loved that record too. I guess Slash could be for the younger guys what Page/Perry is for us a little older.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MrVanz @Matt_J Indeed he is. I'm 18 and two years ago I discovered Slash and Guns N' Roses. It's quite funny because it was by playing Welcome To The Jungle on Guitar Hero that I heard them for the first time. Now it has completely changed my life. I start playing guitar and discovered all their albums (not Chinese Democracy)
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MrVanz Now I have my own band in the style of bands like GN'R, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica,... I worked and saved a lot to get the money to buy this amp. I hope it will soon arrive here in Belgium because it's really Appetite For Destruction who had the biggest influence on my guitarplay and sound together with other great hardrock bands.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MrVanz Last year I bought a Les Paul Standard 2008 because a lot of my favourite guitar players like Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and SLASH of course, play with these great guitars. So indeed you could say I'm an example of the influence Slash has on the younger generations. Pitty that most kids around my age aren't into that great rock n roll lifestyle like the 70s-80's-90s.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MrVanz When I see GN'R performances on youtube I'm like fuck these guys were one of the best rockbands ever. Their energy and attitude are nothing like bands I see now these days. Watch this and see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhFv7wTXng0
Rock N' Fuckin' Roll!!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by captainstupid I agree totally MrVanz! Especially energy and attitude are the attributes which honor the band. Besides the many other qualities that made them outstanding between 1986 and 1992!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR @Matt_J - I prefer toys in the attic album as a whole to be honest :) haha but thanks for the heads up. Plus I already nick riffs and swap em round etc to get my own style . . . I just prefer replicating Slash's as it's much better :P but I will get better with experience :) Plus I have a 23 year old girlfriend . . . and I get my money from playing rugby for Huddersfield Giants :) haha
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR I agree with MrVanz! . . . I hate most modern rock bands!!! eugh . . . every song is just strum strum strum strum strum . . . you hardly ever hear guitar riffs and licks anymore . . . or even guitar solo's!!!! It's just lazy in my opinion . . . . and also as time goes on, male singers are sounding more and more gay/feminine!!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR Stuff like youmeat6, Bring me the horizon etc . . . i also hate the cheesy american accent rock bands like blink 182 and sum 41 . . . a lot agree with me, and alot disagree, however that clearly put on accent is so annoying in songs!!!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR These days you never get people with kick ass voices like steven tyler, dio, david coverdale or rob halford . . . . they're just quiet pussies with their microphone on full to be heard!!!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by bondy1978 Picked mine up from Guitar Guitar in Newcastle today - it's excellent. The power scaling does work, the AFD setting has a big mid boost to it compared to the #34, a bit more bass too. The #34 sounds exactly like a JCM 800 (to my ears). I prefer the AFD setting.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR Obviously there are some old school style bands . . . like alter bridge, airbourne (ac/dc wannabes but they don't kill it!) nickelback . . . and even tenacious d and steel panther . . .
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by bondy1978 The amp rocks great, it won't do cleans though. With the gain at 2 out of 12 I was still getting a crunchy bluesy sound to it. Having said that, i haven't tried it on input 2 yet, maybe that'll do the trick. Nice one Marshall.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by bondy1978 I think above all playing through the amp has proved that tone is in your fingers!!! Does it make me sound like Slash... No. It makes me sound like me playing through a hot rodded JCM 800 (which is what I wanted)
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by stevain think we should remember that shops can only supply what they are given by marshall. All marshall dealers are "big dealers", but they can only supply the customers with what they have.

Posted 1 year ago by brickford I am happy for you guys who have recieved your amps i really am!!! but i say that through gritted teeth though lol
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by SlaashGNR Everybody will have different expectations, experiences and sounds produces through their amps . . . depends on their speaker cab, their guitar and fingers, how they rig up their equipment (pedals etc) . . . You all need to answer your own questions! I mean that in the nicest way possible though :)
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MrVanz I meant of course that most bands these days are nothing compared to the energy and attitude GN'R brought on stage and off stage. Who saw them perform in the old days?? I didn't of course, I was suckin' my mom's tits when they played the hippodrome in Paris in '92 XD.

0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by MHyypia @Dansage - Yes, the power scaling is great. It really works as well as advertised. Having said that, the amp is still pretty loud even with minimal power if you then dime the master etc to get a nice high gain sound. Obviously, that is through my 1960AV, I'm guessing it would be a bit more bedroom friendly through a 1x12.

Posted 1 year ago by jupiter89 You know I may be a bit wierd, but I love to sniff the smell of a new amp's tolex and the chassis of the amp through the vent when it starts to warm up. With the AFD100, smell, sight and sound - it's ALL good I bet !!!

Posted 1 year ago by Welshman Congrats to all you lucky buggers that have had your amps delivered! My dealer (Andertons) did EVERYTHING they said they would, the amp was shipped yesterday EXACTLY as promised, but the amp is stuck somewhere on a courier's truck in the bloody snow :( The frustration is UNBEARABLE - I'm stuck at home with HOURS of free time coz of the snow and no new amp to play with!!

Posted 1 year ago by cpubound @ dansage - Thanks. I have the slash signature cabnets. I think they have the same speakers as the stock 1960av . (however I have read in the forums that they have vintage 30's. I guess I should open one and check...) Anyway, your video is as close as I am going to get until the amps get to the US. Thanks again. Sounds great.

Posted 1 year ago by cpubound @ Dansage - I opened the 1960bv to check the speakers. Nothing is easy! The speakers say G12 Vintage 16 ohm. However, NO wattage is mentioned.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by cpubound @ Dansage - The cabnet says 300 watts. If I divide by 4 I get 75 watts a speaker. But, I do not see 75 watt G12 speakers listed on the Celestion sight...
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by cpubound @ Dansage - And to make things even more obscure, I found the following sight with a picture that looks just like my speakers. http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/gear-equipment/62813-marshall-celestion-g12-vintage.html. That sight says the speakers are 30 watt. But that makes no sense because I would need 10 of them to give a 300 watt cabinet. I give up.

Posted 1 year ago by HACKETT @Cpubound
yes those are celestions vintage 30's, Got exactly these ones in my 1960AV slash signature cab.
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by dansage @cpubound - you will have vintage 30's> not on the celestion site as they are Marshall's "own brand" of celestions so to speak. i believe that these are also 75w each, making the 300w. Bear in mind depending on how you cable your rig up (2 x 8ohm or 1 x 16ohm) will effect the actual watts. in short, dont worry about it!
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by cpubound @ HACKETT & Dansage - Thank you . I guess I have vintage 30's then. :)
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by jupiter89 @cpubound : Those guys are correct ! Long before the AFD 100 was introduced, I bought a floor model 1960AV cabinet at Guitar Center. One day I opened the back and the black Celestion label on the speakers said Vintage but did NOT say Vintage 30 - the labels are exactly as yours. I was wondering if I had been ripped off, so I sent a picture to Celestion, and this is the exact answer I got back:
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by jupiter89 Don’t worry, the speakers are all good! They are the custom version of the Vintage 30 that we make exclusively for Marshall. They sound just the same as the standard model.

Marshall UK had to make special changes to all of them just because of a safty test in LA. Sorry for the delay! "
thanks!

Posted 1 year ago by jonnyhturbo yeah, whats sad is marshall creates this website, and cant/wont even answer this question for us about when due in the usa. I for one pre-ordered one. dont i deserve an answer?
0 Report
Posted 1 year ago by jonnyhturbo thanks Marshall for the update. So many rumors around. with so many dealers saying otherwise, at least now we have something to bank on.
I guess we also didnt realize that it takes time to produce the amps, unlike factories that can pop out amps faster than eggs from geese.
