Since our last blog we've been working hard tweaking the first prototype we showed Slash in LA last month. Based on his comments and amendments as documented in our post dated 24.05.10 we've come up with a finished amp that we hope will hit the nail right on the head! Speaking to Slash, he's really excited about getting his hands on this re-worked prototype and can't wait to put it through it's paces.
Slash is currently on tour in Europe so we've arranged to meet him in Paris on Sunday (20th June) before his gig where he's going to try the amp out during sound check. If it passes his inspection he's even suggested the possibility of playing it live on stage at the gig! If you're heading over to his show at Bataclan in Paris this Sunday you could be one of the first few to hear this amazing amp live!
Once we've collated everything after our meeting with Slash on Sunday we'll post another blog shortly detailing the next step in this exciting project. Stay tuned!

Posted 2 months ago by farhaan83 Since there is no clean channel do a reissue of the silver jubilees, so we can get the full sound that slash uses, that would be a good model to add because many people are after those amps, myself included :D
Itd be great if slash uses it in france :D

Posted 2 months ago by R.T.Marshall I believe Earlier in the R&D process Slash decide he wanted to go with the plexe style (old school) appearance. I wonder if AFD100 is going to be like 1959RR or the 1959slp,

Posted 2 months ago by R.T.Marshall but I doubt they can get slashs clean tones due to the fact the jubilees used EL34s. I do however like the idea of hot rodding the AFD100 with a gain boost similar to the 2266, but due to the nature of the amp it could be overwhelming. It lease it lives up to its name

Then, I'll be at Bataclan on sunday night to see him on a small place. I'm really enjoy to learn that he would test AFD 100 on sunday and I really hope that he will play it live !

I was already very exciting to see Slash twice in a week-end for the first time I will see him. I'm again more now that I know he will perhaps play AFD 100. Thanks for all !

Posted 2 months ago by RicMoura Awsome!!! Can't wait! @Santiago, I think that it would be cool to have a cover for the amp like the JCM Slash Signature had back in 1995. Instead of the snakeskin lookalike, you could do a cover all in black with the Slash logo of his new cd (the skull with the top hat, the two bones and thr R&Fn'R) in gold or silver. What do you think?

Posted 2 months ago by Santiago @R.T.Marshal, the amplifier box will be like a RR, late 70s JMP style, but with toggle switches and light indicator like a 1959.
@RicMourse, we haven't decided about the extras included but those looks like good ideas. I don't think we will do cabinets though...

@Rhythm, that's just the overall look, it will of course have some customization as per Slash requests ;-)

I hope it was AFD 100 last night as said on twitter & facebook - I think I have seen the back of it behind the 4 Slash's cabinet - because Slash's sound was really realy fabulous ! Posted 2 months ago by RicMoura Today I've just bought my "Appetite For Destruction" Gibson VOS, Portugal just won 7-0 to North Corea in the Mondial and tomorrow and Wednesday Slash will be playing here in Portugal. How good is that? It's just getting better and better.Lol. It would be perfect if he played with the AFD100 prototype...

@RicMoura, I think Slash will use the amp for the whole European tour so probably you'll be hearing the AFD100...

Posted 2 months ago by Marker Just saw Slash in Lisbon, Portugal yesterday and it rocked the house!! The sound was Slash's trademark: 2 JCM 2555 heads, what else? The 2555/Jubilee is Slash's tone, please reissue those amps!!! :) I would have loved to hear the AFD100 though...

Posted 2 months ago by Marker @RicMoura, I didn't noticed the AFD100. I wonder if it was AFD100 that blew during Slash's solo Paradise City final solo? He had to switch the guitar but I doubt it was a guitar problem, the sound just stopped all of a sudden.

Posted 2 months ago by RicMoura @Marker, I don't know what went wrong during Paradise city, but if the problem was the amp, why change guitars? yeah, but that's right, the sound just stop all of a sudden. Weird. I'd like to know if it was a guitar problem or something with AFD100.

However, it sounds like the Jubilee, I don't think this was played with AFD100.

Posted 2 months ago by Santiago @Slyme, Hello, so far there won't be new cabinets, the matching ones are the marshall 1960V.
@Marker, I cannot really tell in those videos but I know that Slash was still using the AFD100 proto in Spain after Portugal so something else should have failed.

Posted 2 months ago by Santiago Hi, the amp has 5xECC83 and 4x6550. That proto had 1 or 2 chinese and the rest JJs but valve selection is still open.

Posted 2 months ago by stoof @Santiago Hi Santiago. Chet told me the 2 toggle switches were not wired yet. Do you know which mod the amp is currently running (34 or 39 ?) . I guess 1 switch would be for 34/39 selection, what about the other switch ? Thanks Sir !

Posted 2 months ago by Santiago Hi, the AFD100 will have 2 switches on the front panel. One for the 34/39 sounds, another for the FX loop. THose 2 functions will also be available on the footswitch.
The proto that Slash is currently playing has 3 switches.The 1st one was for the 34/39 modes and the other two for evaluating a couple of voicings.

Posted 2 months ago by Santiago The proto is fixed on the 39 sound and the other two switches are disabled too and hard wired to what Slash preferred after evaluation in the studio. THose were subtle circuit changes which I wanted to have Slash commenting on them, nothing major...
